I’m Shawn Xiao, an AI / ML engineer and data scientist focused on building production AI systems, agents and intelligent products.
I’m interested in the work that turns models into useful systems: evaluation, reliable software, thoughtful experimentation and the connection between technical quality and product impact.
Here, I write about production AI and LLM systems, ML engineering, experimentation and lessons from building data products at scale. My focus is on the decisions and trade-offs involved in building intelligent systems end to end.
My earlier writing covers computer vision, natural language processing, statistics, coursework and experiments. I’ve kept those articles as a record of what I was learning and building at the time.
